Coachella Inspired Etsy Pieces

Coachella just might be the coolest place on earth: warm weather, amazing bands, laid back attitudes and the coolest clothes. Well…I’ve never actually been but at least that’s what I imagine it would be like. Needless to say, all last week I was pining to be there and living vicariously through all of the amazing style shots from the fest. The best compilation that I saw was this slideshow from Refinery29, which really got me psyched up for summer fashion. All of the girls in these photos are rocking amazing vintage or vintage inspired pieces and I found some pretty good comparable pieces on Etsy. Check ‘em out!

This lace dress is boho chic done just right.

Maxi's are everywhere this spring and I think that the blue and white plaid is a fresh take on the trend.

I am really feeling cotton floral shorts like these. Super versatile and flattering for almost any body type.

Crochet tops like this are amazing in the summer to throw on over a bathing suit or a little dress. The Etsy version is more of a cardigan but is still a great layering staple.

Floral rompers like the '90s inspired one in this shot are actually pretty easy to find pretty cheaply on Etsy.

Manhattan Easter Parade

I've never been big into celebrating Easter and yesterday was no exception. With no real plans for the day and beautiful 75 degree weather, my roommate Mary and I decided on a whim to head down to the Easter parade on Fifth Avenue to check out the fashions. Not a formal parade per se, the Easter parade is where New Yorkers go to show off their most fabulous spring outfits. The parade actually started in the 1870s as a spontaneous gathering and today it almost resembles Halloween with lots of people dressed in drag and random costumes like Superman and The Phantom of the Opera. We threw together some kooky outfits that were borrowed from the shop (although we were lacking over the top hats) and pranced up and down the closed off streets for a couple of hours. Here are some of my favorite outfits from the day.

I'm wearing a vintage dress and bag from the shop!

Mary is also wearing a vintage dress and bag from the shop!

This was the most amazing hat even though it was difficult to get a picture of the whole thing.
This woman had to literally hold the hat up the whole time

With all the color, it was nice to see some graphic black and white in the crowd.

These were easily the best dressed ladies that I saw all day. How awesome do they look?!

I liked the simplicity of her outfit and straw hat

Even the dogs got dressed up!

While we were walking along, an impromptu dance party broke out.

My Soul Train Obsession

I was recently at one of my favorite dive bars when, much to my enjoyment, I realized that it was Soul Train Night. Old ‘70s Soul Train DVDs played from a projector onto a giant screen, people dressed in vintage garb and everyone danced. I mentioned in my interview with Revolving Styles that the ‘70s is by far my favorite decade so needless to say, Soul Train night was right up my alley. Ever since, I’ve been addicted to watching Soul Train videos, they even have their own YouTube channel! The fashions are fabulous and the dancing is amazing, those jumpsuits and mega platforms just kill me! Here are some of my favorite clips.

Mega Maxis

The mini skirt has reigned supreme for some time now as the ultimate sexy wardrobe staple but the tides are starting to turn. The mini seems less and less relevant and the maxi skirt feels very fresh right now. When the weather warms up, it’ll be easy to throw on a long floaty skirt with a simple tank and lots of accessories.

New York Magazine did a cool editorial spread featuring varying lengths maxi skirts. I love the styling with the long sleek hair and bare tops.

A couple of cuties rocking this look on the streets of Paris. Both of these looks are good examples of how transition the maxi from winter to spring. Photos from Style.com.

Etsy PicksI love how the floatiness (is that a word?) of this skirt is offset by the tougher snakeskin print.

Can you believe the neckline on this boho chic dress? Amazing.

This dress combines the maxi with one of my other favorite spring trends, lace!

From La Poubelle Vintage

I realllly wanted this skirt to be my size when I bought it but it's a bit too small

Does it get any springier than a sunshine yellow halter maxi? I think not.
